Shopping for new clothes is like entering a new relationship in that first you love it and then you get fat. After that, you hate it. What's redeeming about shopping but not dating is that a credit card swipe can be surprisingly consolatory for an aching soul -- a boyfriend cannot. Boyfriends bang their heads against concrete walls when you don't want to have sex with them. If it's Halloween and you're drunk, they'll just force you to! Boyfriends punch walls when you don't want to eat Panda Express. They push you out of moving cars for rolling your eyes, and lock you out of their apartments for not socializing at parties where they didn't introduce you to anyone. Every once in a while, boyfriends will leave you stranded on random streets in Cuba after you show them a picture of a bruise that they argue was "consensual." Boyfriends kinda suck sometimes, I guess. Alternately, a pretty and pink, embroidered, vintage top would never treat you that way. So, choose wisely, my friend.
