Collared Shift Dress

White and navy shift dress from the 1970s. Navy blue pointed collar. Faux, triangle pockets with white buttons. Sleeveless. Lined only above bust (but not very see-through otherwise). Hook and zipper closure on back. No size tag, but fits like a size small. See measurements below. 

I keep having dreams of running away, of leaving New York and being somewhere sunny, and slow, and satisfying. In these dreams, I've already left. I'm somewhere else, with little else but the clothes on my back and the pennies in my purse (Proenza Schouler PS1).

I'm meandering around unfamiliar cobblestone streets, my phone doesn't work, and I'm wholly unaffected by the time, by where I have to be, who I need to answer, what I need to do tomorrow, or who I may encounter. To put it simply, I am not worried. And as I write this, with my left nail in between my teeth, jaw clenched, and yearning for a glass of wine, I'm realizing how relentlessly uneasy I feel right now, always, outside of my dreams. 

I'm not sure it -- this present apprehension of mine -- has much to do with New York, or myself, or any external, or internal circumstances at all. I just want something new. I want something new, and sunny, slow, and satisfying, where it's still daylight at 9 p.m. and I can trot around happily in heels without a care in the world -- where I'm not concerned about the subway, or Uber prices, or how I'll make it home at 3 a.m. I just do. 

But I love New York, and that's why I'm still here. I love my little store, and the clothes, and the gratification that comes along with putting together a cute little outfit and then SELLING IT. I love this dress, very, very, much. It's a treasure! This dress makes me happy, giddy, and  grateful to be alive, even when I want to die (not often, Dad!). I hope it can do the same for you <3
